What we do: ensuring the future of coffee.
Here and there.

All our coffee is 100% Certified

Our coffees are certified with either UTZ, Rainforest Alliance, Fair Trade or bio-skal certification. As one of the founders of UTZ, we see certification as the foundation of sustainable practice.

We are 100% Climate neutral certified for selected products*

We reduce our environmental impact as much as possible and compensate the remainder. From the coffee farm to our factory. We have committed to reduce 25% in 2030 and started with solar panels and a complete new roasting equipment.

We invest in climate resillient farming

Through using the right farming methods and coffee varieties, the effects of climate change on farming can be reduced.

Our ambition is to take it further:

Investing in Climate mitigation

Besides making farmers more resilient to climate change, we want to reduce the impact of farming on the environment as much as possible.

Reduce, reuse and renewable

Continues efforts to reduce our environmental impact will include - among others - a more efficient roaster and 54% less energy bought from the grid.

Coffee and climate: one impacts another

Coffee is vulnerable to climate change

The yield and the quality of the coffee are severely affected by changes in temperature and weather. Climate change tangibly affects our world: the areas in which coffee is grown experience more and more weather changes that threaten the quality and yield of coffee, and through that they also threaten the livelihood of the farmers who grow the coffee. While demand will rise 2-3 times by 2050, it is expected that 50% of the land suitable for growing coffee will be lost.

Coffee affects the environment too

Watering the plants, cleaning the coffee cherries of their skin for drying, the roasting and packaging, and yes – brewing the coffee at home or in a bar – can have a great impact on the environment. Which method you pick to do any of the above will make an enormous difference to the impact the coffee has on the environment. In addition, lack of knowledge on farming, soil erosion and deforestation are commonplace in unsustainable coffee production.

How we do it: here & there

HERE

In our factory we reduce our environmental impact as much as possible by reducing our energy use, investing in renewable energy, and investing in more efficient production and packaging. We are carbon neutral certified by the Climate Neutral Group. An example is that 100% of the energy we use is renewable and we use as much mono-materials in our packaging as possible. Our focus is on minimizing our environmental footprint. Every year we go a little further.

THERE

We work towards climate resilience by investing in climate resilient coffee varieties and sustainable water use. For both, farmer education is essential. This does not only result in a better coffee harvest, but also in a more reliable income for farmers. That makes coffee farming attractive for future generations of farmers who will supply the world with its favorite drink for years to come.  The impact we still have can be compensated by carbon credits. Carbon credits are investment in sustainable development projects resulting in less environmental impact somewhere else. An accredited and independent organization calculates how much the project helps the environment.

Our ambitions take it further

Sustainability is continuous movement towards more sustainable solutions, towards more sustainable ways to carry out our activities. It’s not just a box to tick, it requires attention with everything we do, every day. That’s why we don’t stop here, we set our ambitions higher.
