To ensure the excellent quality of our products, Ahold Coffee Company allows inspection of the certificates we have obtained and the standards with which our organization complies.

The BRC Food Standard

The British Retail Consortium (BRC) is a UK trade organization that represents the interests of large British supermarkets (such as Tesco, Safeway, Somerfield and Sainsbury). Together they have established the requirements for suppliers of foodstuffs in the BRC Food Standard. This certificate indicates that suppliers comply with the requirements regarding such matters as quality management, food safety and information supply. Ahold Coffee Company complies with all of the requirements of the BRC Food Standard, which was adapted into the CBL-BRC code in the Netherlands by the Dutch central office for food products Centraal Bureau Levensmiddelen (CBL).

HACCP

Article 30 of the Warenwetregeling Hygiëne van Levensmiddelen (WHL) food and commodities act requires that every company that prepares, processes, handles, packages, transports, distributes or trades in foodstuffs systematically integrates the safety and hygiene of the products in their working method(s). This requires a monitoring and/or food safety system for the entire process based on HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point). HACCP is the systematic control of critical points that affect the end product.

The primary objective of the HACCP risk inventory for foodstuffs is to ensure that the production process of all foodstuffs entails the lowest possible risk of contamination. The British Retail Consortium monitors compliance with HACCP procedures.

SKAL

In addition to the certificates mentioned above, we also have SKAL certificates that are monitored annually by external organizations. Thanks to SKAL certification, our customers know that Ahold Coffee Company complies with all requirements for organic production methods. Every year, we prove to the SKAL auditor that we not only roast, blend, grind and package organic coffee according to the guidelines but also import it in a safe and reliable manner.
